Shomail Malik, like most Pakistanis, was conceived by his parents to become a doctor. Where he comes from, you have two choices: become a doctor or an engineer. If you dare pick anything else, you just might get disowned. While on his pre-med journey in college, he started his own business by partnering with an Internet service provider and became one of the top distributors in the entire country. He told his parents that he would no longer be pursuing medicine because his heart inclined towards having his own business. Around this time in 2002, as he was entering his last year in college, he was introduced into the world of real estate by a good friend and went on to get his real estate license and then become a real estate agent with Keller Williams. He credits much of his success to his broker and mentor in those days, Mr. Mohammad Abbasi.
Determined to make this parents proud, he graduated from Rutgers College in 2003 with a degree in Economics and minor in Neuroscience and went off to work for Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals in the sales division. He spent 11 years working for pharmaceutical and medical supplies companies, earning numerous promotions and sales awards along the way. In 2008, while still employed, and as the economy began its downward spiral, he started Strategic Realty Solutions (www.strategicrealtyllc.com), a real estate investment and residential re-development company that acquires distressed properties, rehabs them, and sells them to retail and landlord buyers. In 2010, while working his full-time 9-to-5 and running a full-time business, he began his graduate work pursuing an Executive MBA at Rutgers Business School. In his last position while working in Corporate America, he was the Global Business Manager for a $35 business unit at a Fortune 500 healthcare company. Finally, in March 2014, as his real estate investment firm grew exponentially, he left Corporate America once and for all.
Along with his success in real estate investing, Shomail is often called upon to speak at regional and national real estate conference throughout the country. He is one of the nation’s foremost experts in wholesaling, rehabbing, raising private capital, short sales, bank-owned properties, and turnkey rental properties. In 2012, he started Real Estate Wealth Academy (www.REWealthAcademy.com), a premier education company that teaches and provides support to real estate investors all over the country. Additionally, Shomail also runs a real estate club, NJ Real Estate Connect, that meets monthly in Central NJ where he brings other movers and shakers in the real estate investing industry to share case studies and best practices with his audience members.
